ON/OFF your Private Message option!

Question

Dear AskAnjali users,

Recently we came to know that few members use the Private Message option to send unwanted messages especially to female members over here.

However if members who wish not to recieve Private Message from other members can opt for this. Here is the simple procedure to ON/OFF your private message option:

1. Login into AskAnjali.com with your login details.

2. Click MY ACCOUNT at the top of the page or go to http://askanjali.com/account

3. Once you go to your account page, you can see a option called PRIVATE MESSAGE, if you wish to recieve message from other members please click it and if you wish not to recieve message from others please uncheck it.

If you have queries in doing so, please feel free to ask any question.

What is the purpose of the two triangles (one inverted) on the Left hand side?

Most of the tweets show zero.

Put your cursor there, you will know. One is click to vote Up and the other is click to vite Down.

A lot of people uses that feature, who knows this is a good feature to encourage a good reply or question.

Thanks Anjali ji.  The lady who forwarded me that message, would feel happy now.

We believe certain simple ethics here, some call them rules, some treats as a guideline. We cant let anyone use abusive language, be it openly or in private message.  We have to respect individuals, and be it a lady or gentleman, the rights are equal.

Specially for the lady members, please inform the Editors if you are abused by any member in private message.  Sending these messages is not right, receiving, accepting and keeping quiet is not right.

ON/OFF option is a very good one but it makes the serious persons handicap too as if they want to communicate,they are unable to do so.

Savita, your current status shows you dont want to receive any Private Massage. If you dont want to receive any message like update on your reply or comment, then while posting a question, reply or comment first write that, before sending, uncheck the box. The second level message will be blocked too. Hope this solves your problem. Still if persists, do inform me.

Thanx OYe for informing me the 2nd level option too.I am unaware about that.But its ok as from that I can easily know about the msg received at my reply so that I can read the reply as a information & get in touch with this FORUM too.

dear oye and anjaliji recently i noticed a msg in my mail spam box which was sent earlier by priteemayi. it was full of abusive words and language. a girl or women never can use a such abusive language. i think this preetimayi or mamuni isnt a female. this user is psychologically disturbed perverted male user. he wont stop will continue with new ids untill he get treated by psychiatrist

I just checked, Pritimayee is in blocked list, unless she can get access she cant send a mail.  Being in Blocked list, one cant login.  Can you please forward me the content and exact name used?

If you have read postings today, Mamuni is back as Payal Patil. After deleting the question and answers, I am sure, we are far from over.

So the Editors needs to read the questions and answers carefully, because to my understanding, Mamuni is a psychopath and sociopath.  You may have other opinion.

i cannot understand it properly..there is an option- allow user to email me...it that what you are talking about ?? So what does a red cross within the box means- is anyone can mail me ? :o

Yes what you meant is exactly correct and that is what we are speaking about, if you check that box other users can send u a private message to you and if you uncheck it other members cannot send you a private message.

that's a wise decision Anjali Mam, this will preserve our members privacy.

Its a good move to maintain the sanity of this site.
If `members don't wish to  receive private mail, then they can turn off this option.
If any member misuse this for sending abusive mail it should be brought to light and we should give them the public warning as Oye did on first instance itself.
