This is Roshni and I am a 18 year old female.

My father died 5 years back and my mom works at a small store. We spent all our money on my father's medical expenses and with the present earnings I manage to go to college. I would like to study further, but due to the economic situation at home I do not think I would be able to study further. I tried looking for work, like in a call centre, but I see my friends having a lot of work pressure and not able to concentrate on their studies.

One of my friend works as an escort (call girl), and she has been asking me to join her escort agency. The escort agency is among the top most and they pay very well. They also have a limited clientelle to service. My friend says that she hardly has to attend to 1 to 2 clients a week and only holidays are hectic. They have a one year contract and provide us with many other good facilities and benefits. With this, I feel that I would be able to concentrate on my studies as well as earn some money for both my younger sister and myself.

After all this, I still have a hesitation in joining something like this. I am confused and is it wrong if I become a call girl for some time? Is it OK to become a call girl for some reasons like mine.

Listen very carefully to what I say. My answer may not be kinky by usual AskAnjali standards, but it may just save your life.

There is no such thing as "becoming a call girl for some time." The stigma will remain in social circles and more importantly in your own spirit for as long as you live. You have your entire adult life ahead of you. You must have your own desires, ambitions, passions – is this how you want to start off?

You might get involved in alcohol abuse, drug abuse, rape or other crimes. Think about your sister. When she grows up, she might also want to follow in your footsteps. Think of the reputation of your family. What would you have to say for yourself then?

Please do not be temped by riches. Complete your education. If necessary, do part time jobs in department stores, cafes or give tuitions to earn some more. I know of several poor girls earing an honest living this way. Joining a call centre sure is hectic, but I would always recommend that over becoming a call girl. Do not be tempted by your friend's offers or her lifestyle. If she or anyone else tries to force you, contact the police or any NGO who deals which such matters. If you are talking about options…then prostitution is not at all an option..its a pit and don't fall for it.
lets talk about options :
As said earlier you have to work hard, save money and do your basic education (i.e. a graduate degree). Then you are open to many opportunities. you can do some IT related jobs, office related jobs, call centre jobs are not bad atleast you can save money for your sister's education and will definitely ease out your mother's burden. These jobs can be obtained with a general Bachelors degree and they give you a decent salaries as well. with a graduate degree you can also apply for various govt jobs and other opportunities will definitely come.
Or
Take educational loan, fulfill what you really want and do the best you can with your studies as well as career and then repay them the money from your salary. It may seems to be easier way but without hard work and determination you cant achieve anything in this world.
Just have a faith that everything will be all right. Life

I agree with nearly all the other responders. Its not a good idea, especially if your goal is only to make enough money to contribute towards your families basics and enough to study. My family and business are more the willing to sponsor a part of your education, plus provide you with some basic work, that you can do even from the comfort of your home, on the net, which it seems that you are familiar with. However before we release the funds and provide your the work, we will check on your story, especially as there is a lot of fraud on the net.

I can assure you that the line that you are thinking about will only provide you with more troubles than you can anticipate. The money might be good, but the risks are higher. I frankly am not going to lecture you about the moral eticates, and say it is a sin.. But simply tell you that the path is more dangerous. Well its certainly not any wise option for anyone although i am also can understand that you have a serious problem to face because money plays a most important role in everyone life but as a women i can also advice you to not to indulge into it…it might can give you money but it will spolils your dignity as a girl…then this would be really horrible for your life ahead.
For me true part is that if you are educated and wise enough then moeny will always follow you on its own so just try to accomplished your studies on high note…and for initial part you can find many opportunities as Office assistant, receptionist and many other opportunities as a consultant in banking and marketing sectors, that will help you out to take burden of your family responsiblities and also will sure your bright future.

I don’t know what word “studies” meant for you. I think you perceive it as a higher degree as usually thought by teenagers in the modern world. Studies or “Vidya” is a very sacred word which gives one an ability to differentiate between right and wrong. Vidya teaches one to live with dignity and you are going to disgrace yourself for so called higher studies. What if you get higher studies through prostitution. Well, I am not sure why r u so confused. I hope you are not looking for quick money. If you are really serious about your studies then I will recommend you to go for call center job. AND I assure you that you will be able to do study also and earn decent amount.

I have worked for call center in my starting of career after my graduation and then I completed PG in computer science and today I am working with one of the best company in Indian as Assistance Manager (Technology). SO my advise is to go for call center job, work there for 9 hrs, study for three hours and rest of the 11 hrs u decide what u want to do.

BUT for ur family sake, dont even think about joining the stupid escort job.

I am doing my studies in America, and honestly, I did not have enough finances to manage my living as well as my education while I have responsibilities to look after at home. Like you, I always had this strong desire to study at least till masters level but my parents could never support me for the same. Which is why I made all the efforts on my own and looked up for opportunities.

After a deep survey, I found out that almost every Indian bank provides an education loan to students like us, for upto 5 lacs (INR) for studies in India, and upto 20 lacs for studying abroad. It is one of the easiest way for students to be able to study. If you are intelligent enough to pursue an education and have already got an admission letter, then any government or state bank would be more than willing to give you this loan. The interest rates of these loans are extremely low. 9 percent per year, and you are not required to pay anything till one year after you graduate from your college or find a job (which ever is earlier). Moreover, you get 7 years to repay this loan. Let me give you a detailed example, let's say you take loan for 4 lac rupees to pay for your education, then you don't have to pay even one rupee back to the bank until your course is over and you get a job. You get 7 years to repay your loan, which means your monthly installment would be just 5000 rupees. which once you'd start earning (Even at a call centre) then also you can manage to payback.

I am on a student loan myself. I study in day and teach tuitions and other part time job to keep up with my living. I now earn enough to at least support myself and my family. I am not unique, there are millions of other students who are doing the same thing I am doing, the only problem is that this thing is not common in India. If you think of abroad, everyone studies here on a student loan, and part time jobs. Even in India, I have lots of friends who are in even worst position as you, but are still working hard to cope up with problems. If you love education then it reflects you must be at least an average child in your studies. Why don't you start giving home tuitions instead? they can fetch some real good money. What I am trying to say here is that where there is a will there is a way. You are just being weak and are about to take a decision in hurry, without understanding the impacts of it. You are just 18, and at your age people are usually over enthusiastic about everything. Take life more practically than being involved in any such thing.

You have to believe me on what I am saying here. I have lived in India for 21 years and have just moved to america. Over here in america, this thing (being an escort) is normal. I know many girls who just do this part time and earn so much money that you can't even imagine. But this is America, and people over here are really open and acceptable about such things. In other words, over here nobody gives a shit about what you are doing. But this is definitely not the same in India. In india people are still narrow minded, and would definitely not accept this thing. Moreover, have you imagined if what you are trying to do is legal or not? No my friend, this is illegal in India, and this means you should also think of being caught by police. There are so many prostitution rackets being busted every day.
