I am a married woman, 42 years old. I cannot tell you many details. Since a long time, I have not being having a sex life with my husband. Sometimes when he feels he wants to have sex, then we do. Sometimes even when I do not want to have sex, he will do.

Last week, he tried to have sex, but due to my lack of desire for him, my vagina felt very dry and it was very painful. I was checking on the Internet and I read that a cream or lubricant gel would help. Nowadays, I am in Delhi and I tried to check where to find this kind of product but its impossible.

Anybody knows where I could get one?

Hi Ana,

Normally, the walls of the vagina stay lubricated with a thin layer of clear fluid. The hormone estrogen helps maintain that fluid and keeps the lining of the vagina healthy, thick, and elastic. During menopause, the drop in estrogen levels reduces the amount of moisture available. It also makes the vagina thinner and less elastic. This is called vaginal atrophy.

I think you will be still menstruating and menopause didn't happen to you then the low estrogen hormone level may be the cause of your dry vagina. Doctors prescribe estrogen cream for dry vagina. I cannot tell the brand's name of this cream here, I'll tell you through private message. You can buy this cream from any chemists shop.

Good luck.

You could try buying it online... LOts of varieties are available. Why doesn't your husband buy them? Or is he so much into his own self centered self that he does not care about your feelings? Don't you speak about these things with him?

Hi there!
Lubrication is very important in sex. That's why the vagina goes wet in excitement. Male pre-cum does the same thing. If you really don't want to get hurt then you must have to say no for sex when you're not in mood. That's the best solution but if you can't / don't want to refuse then you may use alternatives as oil, saliva, or anything household will be okay which can be used to reduce the rough friction. There may be some products available for lubrication in sex online. You can even try them.

Perhaps you might have reached or about to reach menopause stage. In this period menstruation ceases and dryness in the vagina persists.Secretion from Bartholin glands is hindered. Most of the women feel pain during insertion of penis. My wife also feel same problem. To overcome these problems Olive,Coconut or Mustard oil may be used before proceeding for sex encounter.

You could find it from drug store but being a woman it would be embarrassing for you to ask for lubricates so better to give this task to your husband and ask him that he needs to bring lube to have sex as you are feeling dry inside your vagina and it is painful.

Most of medical stores have such gel so he can bring it from any medical store just discuss with him why you need it and if he wants sex then definitely he will buy it so he can have sex with you often without you feeling pain.

There is another option too, go online and purchase it as these days there are so many online website which can deliver it to you within two-three days.

Discuss with your husband that you are not getting wet enough to have painless sex so ask him to have more foreplay and do it when you are in mood so you can get wet enough to take his penis inside your vagina.

You may fantasize about things which makes you wet down there too. You are not alone with dry problem after so many years of marriage so you have to play smart role here to balance your sex life so keep your body ready for sex with few stuffs like lube and fantasy.
